 San Carlos favorite, Starburst Records recording artist Lorena Robles, returns to La Palapa Griega Friday and Saturday February 10 and 11, 2017. So many folks LOVED her December guest, Las Vegas Jazz Singer Ira Hill, he will be returning for the February show!  They will be accompanied by world class pianist and long time Musical Director for Mexican mega-star Alejandro Fernandez. Jorge Estrada!  Our very special guest for February are more San Carlos favorites, 60s hit recording artist Chris Montez. 

 

Chris Montez is an American guitarist and vocalist, whose stylistic approach has ranged from rock & roll to pop standards and Latin music. His rock sound is exemplified songs such as his 1962 hit "Let's Dance", which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. When his early music's popularity began to fade, he switched to a more traditional role as a popular singer of soft ballads, scoring a hit with "Call Me" in 1966. He has also recorded in Latin styles. Over the intervening years, he has continued to work in all three modes.

 

 

 

 

 

 Jorge Estrada, Mexican pianist, born in Guadalajara, and graduated from the School of Music of the University of this city. He has been a pianist and producer of pop star Alejandro Fernández since 1996, accompanying him on his tours around the world. 

In 1990 formed the trio of Jazz Tapatio Vía Libre and along with them he had an intense activity for more than 10 years alternating with different exponents of the United States and performing 3 record productions: Via Libre "Por Fin" Via Libre "In the attic" Dan Pinson & Via Libre "South of the Border" 
Some of the musicians he has played with are: Kitty Margolis, Joyce Cooling, Richard Howell, Steve Baughman, Madeline Eastman, Claudia Gomez, Jimmy Haslip, Lisa Torres, John "Buddy" Conner, Ann Dyer, Sandro Albert, Marco Da Costa, Sal Cracchiolo, Luis Conte, Brandon Fields, Dan Pinson, Jimmy Branly, Dean Taba, Don Shelton (from acclaimed vocal groups The Hi-Lo's and The Singers Unlimited), Katisse Buckingham, Dori Caymmi, Steve Khan, Drew Zaremba and Marcela Ro. In 2004 he made a record production "Voices of the Black Forest", with Jimmy Haslip (famous bass player of the American group "Yellowjackets") and two prominent Brazilian musicians Sandro Albert and Marco Da Costa, producer of the famous Maria Rita daughter of Elis Regina and also Luis Conté, the famous Cuban percussionist. 
Jorge made the Soundtrack of 2 short films by the acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro ("Matilde" & "Doña Lupe"). 

He recently went to the city of Baden in Austria to take Film Scoring and Orchestration courses with Maestro Conrad Pope, as well as the great arranger Nan Schwartz and composer Christopher Young, three major figures in the Hollywood film industry. 
He has also worked as a singer and has had activity as a speaker in commercials. 

He is a student of the orchestra and band director school Francisco Navarro Lara in Huelva, Spain. 
Jorge is in the process of finishing two new record productions as well as an orchestral work that will be released in the United States soon. 

Some of the countries in which Jorge Estrada has had concerts are: The United States, Venezuela, Turkey, Spain, Colombia and Brazil among others.

 

Amaya, The Gypsy Dancer Promoter of dance events, international performer, CD and DVD producer, and lastly, Master Teacher, Amaya has been in the dance business for 35+ years. Winner of the Dancer of the Year IAMED AWARD, and First place competition winner in Cairo, Egypt, Amaya is well-established and respected in her career.  She credits her mentor and dance partner, the late Roman Balladine, for opening many dance doors around the world for her (Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania…).  Her work in Salome Traumtheater and Circus Conelli in Germany and Switzerland, plus more recently, her dance work in Beijing, China has cinched her crown as an iconic and internationally known dancer.

 

 

 

As her fans expected, the career of our favorite chanteuse, Lorena Robles, has taken off!

She will only be appearing publicly in San Carlos on three special weekends this season. Exclusively at La Palapa Griega and in association with Mexmo San Carlos, Lorena Robles will entertain on specific Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with awesome guests at The San Carlos Music Festivals!

Lorena’s first worldwide CD release parties for her self-titled “Lorena Robles” on USA indie label, Starburst Records. Lorena will be joined by Las Vegas jazz sensation, Ira Hill. Finalists for the 59th Grammy Awards are announced on December 6, so hopefully we will also be celebrating Lorena’s nomination for Record of The Year (Sister Senorita!)
